The Merisphere publishing house

An independent publishing house based in England, devoted to ideas, knowledge and literatures from Africa and the world.

Our editorial mission

Merisphere Publishing offers writers, researchers and thinkers from Africa and its diasporas a demanding editorial space through which their works, knowledge and debates can circulate beyond borders.

The house does not claim to speak in their place. It provides the editorial means for them to be published, read, discussed and heard over time, while welcoming texts from other horizons when they contribute to this circulation of ideas.

  • Essays and humanities
  • Literatures and narratives
  • Academic works
  • Education and school books

Genuine editorial work

Each selected work receives appropriate support: critical reading, correction, editorial design, print and digital layout, cover design and preparation for distribution.

Submitting to Merisphere Editions is free. No paid service is required for a manuscript to be examined or accepted. Sales accounts are reported in accordance with the publishing contract.

  • Selection based on the text
  • Readable contracts
  • Transparent attribution of contributions
  • Print and digital editions

Read fully, judge freely

Merisphere Review articles do more than summarise books. They present a work’s project fairly, examine its contributions and limitations, and open it to discussion.

Sending a book, review copy or digital file guarantees neither publication nor a favourable assessment. A commercial relationship may fund documented work or clearly identified visibility; it can never purchase a judgement.

  • Complete reading before review
  • Verifiable references and quotations
  • Declared interests
  • Factual corrections identified and dated
  • No complete text without established rights

Clearly identified leadership

Merisphere Publishing was founded and is directed by Antoine Nguidjol, who holds a doctorate in philosophy from Paris X-Nanterre University and is a writer and essayist. A former official in the French national education system, he notably worked at the Évreux university centre and within the French international education network in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

He is responsible for editorial direction, the coherence of the catalogue and the fulfilment of commitments. Scholars, specialist readers, translators and advisers may contribute on an assignment basis. Every substantial contribution is credited; no occasional collaboration is presented as permanent employment.

  • Identifiable editorial responsibility
  • External expertise engaged according to each work
  • A scientific committee announced only after its members formally accept

Work with Merisphere

Collaboration may take the form of a manuscript, article, review, interview, institutional acquisition, translation, lecture or educational project. In every case, Merisphere retains its editorial independence.
