Strategic reserve
Definition. A reserve of products considered essential, established in order to maintain supplies temporarily when a normal flow is interrupted or severely reduced.
Key points. Strategic reserves may cover hydrocarbons, foodstuffs, medicines or certain raw materials. Establishing them entails a cost and does not replace regular supplies.
