Born of an absence and a promise
Merisphere Review was born of an absence, but also of a promise: the absence of lasting places where African and diasporic voices can meet, and the promise of a space where literature and essays are not luxuries but necessities for Africa and its diasporas, today and tomorrow.
A home for books and ideas
This magazine is not a cultural supplement. It is a home that seeks to awaken books, question ideas and transmit stories.
Making different times speak to one another
In these pages, traditions converse with modernities, forgotten tales with contemporary essays, critical voices with yesterday’s silences.
Africa, its diasporas and the wider world
We welcome classical writers, contemporary thinkers and figures from the African diasporas and the Caribbean, without forgetting the elsewhere—the other world of ideas that unsettles and enriches us.
Writing connects; reading accompanies
To write is to connect memories, generations, struggles and dreams. To read is no longer to be alone. Here, every word is a glimmer and every page a flash of light. Welcome to this meeting place of resistance and beauty.
Discussion about the article
